On December 11th, I had the opportunity to dive into the heart of our battery production process, witnessing firsthand the rigorous quality control measures that set our ebike battery packs apart from the competition.
Beginning with extensive testing processes, the first major test was waterproofing. By submerging the A-65 battery and its casing underwater, we ensure that no air bubbles escape- otherwise it'd indicate a failure in the battery's sealing integrity.
This way, it ensures our assembly process is on track and confirms that the A-65 battery can withstand exposure to moisture which is a common challenge in many real-world applications.
Waterproofing ensures the battery's longevity and helps prevent potential damage from environmental conditions.
Next was the drop test, where specialized machines drop the A-65 battery from a height of 1.5 metres onto a solid cement block. This test is conducted at various angles with both the battery by itself and with its packaging, complete with the charger and battery mount.
The drop test is essential for ensuring our battery packs are mechanically robust. By simulating the impacts of dropping the battery, it also takes into account what can occur during shipment or accidental drops.
This way, we can understand that the battery pack and its parts can handle shocks without compromising performance or safety.
Finally, the final test was the cell aging procedure, an essential step to verify that each battery cell charges and discharges properly throughout its life cycle. The assessment involves undergoing the battery through multiple charge and discharge phases to simulate extended use.
By doing so, we can confidently assure our customers of the batttery packs' long-term reliability and efficency. Cell aging tests are crucial for understanding the battery's durability over time so that our riders can consistently perform for more throughout their e-adventures no matter the terrain.
The A-65 batteries use Samsung 50s cells, a well-trusted and quality
Though we use the well-trusted and quality Samsung 50s cells in our A-65 batteries, we still perform internal quality control measures (IQC) for each batch as an extra safety layer. The production line itself is like a well-oiled machine, one of the critical proceeses involves adding short-circuit protection around each conductive surface achieved by applying a specialized insulating material that prevents accidental contact between conductive components.
By minimizing the risk of short-circuits, we ensure that every battery that's shipped to our customers are safe and reliable.
Besides these features, the A-65 battery incorporates a sophisticated battery management system (BMS) which is essential for monitoring and managing the battery pack's performance, optimal operating via balancing the charge among cells, protecting against overcharging or deep discharging, and extending the overall lifespan on the battery pack.
Designing a BMS is complicated process that requries advanced algorithims and precision engineering to seamlessly integrate with the battery's architecture.
